An immersive floral retreat exploring colour, creativity and the countryside where like-minded creatives meet, relax and unwind.
Jay Archer Floral Design is teaming up with Brigitte Girling of Moss & Stone for an inspiring 3-day residential workshop at Abbey Hall in Suffolk. Situated on the outskirts of the ancient market town of Eye, this peaceful rural location provides 10 acres of unspoilt Suffolk water meadows in which to roam, forage, explore, inspire and nurture your creative, floral soul.
The workshop will take place in the beautifully restored and atmospheric 16th-century Benedictine barn. Students will be encouraged to forage from the surrounding landscape and rambling, overgrown Hall gardens, which provide the very best seasonal, mostly British flowers and foliage. You will work individually and in groups to create a series of arrangements and installations. Our resident photographer Nick Ilott will document your journey over the course of the 3 days, providing Royalty-free images for your personal use. In the evenings, there will be time to relax and enjoy live music, poetry readings and yoga.
Abbey Hall is an incredible old family home; every room filled with beautiful works of art by the late Peter Campbell who used to live there. It is quirky, extraordinary and fascinating. There is a choice of bedrooms available ranging from the atmospheric shepherd’s hut with amazing views to the church across the water meadows, to more rooms within the house itself. These bedrooms provide comfortable, private space; some large and sun filled, others slightly more basic and homely but all imbued with character, and of course full of paintings and works of art. Rooms will be offered on a first come, first served basis. There are 2 bathrooms and a shower room in the barn.
Delicious, seasonal food will be served for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner by ask Barbara. On the last evening, there will be a special atmospheric, celebratory meal where we will gather together immersed within our floral creations - a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate and reflect on the course while enjoying a delicious banquet by candlelight. Refreshments including tea, coffee, water and biscuits will be provided throughout.
