DESCRIPTION:Come and spend an evening in calm creativity\, learning the tips and techniques of the traditional craft of flower pressing. \nAfter a warm welcome we will take a walk around the flower field\, learning which flowers are suitable for pressing and at what stage of growth. You’ll then wander the flower field gathering your own little posy of blooms\, leaves and seed heads to press. \nBack in the workshop you can relax with a drink a slice of cake while Rainy demonstrates a variety of traditional flower pressing techniques and showing examples of how the pressed flowers can be used. \nUsing your posy you’ll get hands on\, carefully preparing each stem for pressing in the large traditional flower press  [24cm x 19cm worth £20] which is yours to keep and take home with you. \nAs we will be walking around the flower field\, please wear sensible shoes and clothes suited to the weather. We will also see where the conditioning of flower stems happens and the arranging of flowers before they head off to their destination be it a wedding or as a gift bouquet. 2025 will see new beds being made and filled with glorious blooms as I grow more to meet demand.\nI follow no dig and organic growing principles with a mix of annuals\, perennials and shrubs. DESCRIPTION:This course will be led by three individual tutors\, Clare Ashcroft\, of The Flower Farm\, Carol Siddorn\, of Carol’s Garden\, and Joseph Massie\, of the UK School of Floristry. \nIn our three days together\, we’ll dive into all the information you’ll need to start cultivating your own cutting garden for commercial use. Focusing on plot sizes from your own back garden\, up to half an acre\, this course is very much designed to equip you with the tools to plan\, sow\, grow\, cut and design with flowers you have grown yourself. This course is a little different from the majority of courses held at UKSOF\, in the fact that each day is led by a different tutor\, across two locations\, each within an hours drive of Manchester City Centre.
