About My Business
If you care about where your flowers come from, their carbon footprint and whether they're chemical free or not, take a trip out to the flower farm at Verde near Durham where I grow sustainable and beautiful bespoke flowers for weddings, funerals and special events. I farm 600 feet up on an acre at New Close Farm cultivating just over a hundred different varieties of flowers and foliage, mainly from seed and cuttings, without using pesticides or herbicides, either in a polytunnel or outside in everything the weather has to throw at me. I like brides to get involved, so encourage them to come and pick their flowers a few days before their wedding, then I arrange them in romantically wild bouquets and floral installations, half English-garden, half-hedgerow on steroids. I also sell through the farm shop and host pick-your own days in the summer. My flowers are freshly picked, often scented and always exquisite. I also run small, creative workshops showcasing what's in season on the farm as well as give talks across the country to horticultural societies and other interested organisations.
