Verde Flowers

About My Business

I'm an award-winning garden writer and cut flower grower with over twenty years of experience of growing seasonal cut flowers.  I farm 600 feet up on an acre at New Close Farm near Witton Gilbert in County Durham cultivating just over a hundred different varieties of flowers and foliage, mainly from seed, without using pesticides or herbicides, either in a polytunnel or outside in everything the weather has to throw at me. I specialise in growing bespoke flowers for weddings, where brides and their guests come and pick the flowers on the farm, and I arrange them in unique bouquets and floral installations. I also sell through the farm shop and to selected event florists.  My flowers are freshly picked, often scented and always exquisite. I also run small, creative workshops showcasing what's in season on the farm and in the hedgerow as well as give talks across the country to horticultural societies and other interested organisations.
