I spent most of my childhood surrounded by nature, as I was lucky enough to be able to walk to my local woodland nature reserve with my family, including our lovely dog. I would spend lots of time, exploring the earth, climbing the trees and watching the insect life doing their thing, it was my happy place! Nowadays my happy place is a beautiful, georgian walled garden, near Oswestry in Shropshire, growing flowers from seeds and bulbs and caring for them until they develop. I am creating this growing area into a haven for Bees and Butterflies, improving the soil and working with the rhythms of nature and the seasons. As I live in Welshpool, which is just on the welsh side of the Shropshire and wales border, I am able to deliver to both the Shropshire and Mid Wales area so please do get in touch. After spending much of my career as a Children's Nursery Nurse working for a private Nursery and then self employed, I decided to go back to college and do something else that I loved, and that was creative. I re-trained for 2 years and qualified with City & Guilds, Levels 2 & 3 in floristry. When my training was coming to an end I found work as a florist in a local village florist shop and after in my local town shop. Having lived in London when I was younger I decided to head back there also, to gain some experience in a larger, high end florists, at Jane Packer flowers. Whilst studying floristry and after working in a few shops, we moved to Mid Wales to settle. I knew that I wanted to grow my own seasonal flowers and work with nature, sharing them with my local community and spreading the word about sustainable British flowers and slowly 'floralana' was born! I provide wedding and funeral flowers, as well as for DIY weddings, buckets of flowers for you to create yourself, hand tied gift bouquets, subscription flowers and gift cards. I also grow a few flower varieties in larger volumes for florists so please do get in touch. As an ambassador for sustainable flowers for Powys I am available to give talks and demonstrations to flower clubs, WIs and those who are interested in learning more about sustainable floristry. If you are interested in joining me for a 1 to 1 or group workshop then please do get in touch. Follow me and keep up to date on workshops and events on my website, Instagram (flora1lana) and face book (floralana) pages. Lana x
